School System Guide to this Site

If students are to succeed, it is critical that they receive support at all levels of the educational process. The following information helps not only to support students, but also to support the parents, teachers, and other educational professionals who provide much of a student’s support network:
Counseling and Support
School Counselors
Click here to find out information about School Counselors and the school counseling program in Georgia. Counselors can provide students with a variety of information and support. This covers everything from helping students select classes and identify possible careers to obtaining personal and psychological counseling. If you are a parent, and think your child would benefit from the services of a school counselor, please contact your local school. If you believe that your child is not getting the type of counseling they need, please contact your local school district central office.
Student Support Teams
Student Support Teams (SST) exist in every Georgia school and function as problem-solving groups. In this capacity, the help students achieve success by removing or finding ways around roadblocks to that success.

It helps them locate support services available through the school, school district, and public and private community organizations. It also helps parents and school authorities address student discipline based on the appropriate discipline for the severity of the behavior.
School Social Work and Visiting Teacher Services
This link takes you to a page that promotes a program designed to help students work on nonacademic issues that effect their academic performance. Education professionals, parents, and community leaders are coming to the realization that these nonacademic issues not only effect student’s academic work, but can undermine their entire outlook on life and jeopardize their future as adults who contribute positively to society.
