 Georgia Private School Tax Credit

The Georgia Private School Tax Credit law allows eligible private citizens and corporations to receive tax credits for donations to Student Scholarship Organizations (SSOs).  SSOs will provide student scholarships to parents of eligible children who plan to attend private schools.

How do I get a scholarship for my child?
 Contact a SSO directly.  All contact information is provided on the SSO List.

How do I make a donation to the SSO?
You must be pre-approved - Contact the Georgia Department of Revenue​.

Where to I send my pre-approved donation?

Pre-approved donations are sent directly to the SSO – contact information for all SSOs can be found on the SSO list – Georgia Department of Education website.

Has the donation cap been reached for the current year? 
 Contact the Georgia Department of Revenue.

Is my private school eligible to receive a SSO scholarship?
 The SSO scholarships are provided to parents not to schools.  The SSO will determine if the school to which the parent chooses to send the child meets the criteria according to the law.

I lost my pre-approval form, where can I get a replacement?
 Contact the Georgia Department of Revenue​.

How many scholarships have been issued by the SSOs for this school year?
 This information is not provided to the Department of Education. 

How can my non-profit organization become a Student Scholarship Organization (SSO)?
